What is a Nurse Practitioner (NP)?
Nurse Practitioners are registered nurses with specialized education which includes a Master’s degree in Nursing and National Certification.  They are licensed through the State Board of Nursing.  They are educated to provide health care to women throughout the lifespan.   They focus on health maintenance, disease management, counseling and education.


Physician Assistant

What is a Physician Assistant?
Physician Assistants have advanced clinical education with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees and take a national recertifying exam every 6 years.  Physician Assistants are licensed through the State Board of Medicine.  They also focus on health maintenance, disease management, counseling and education.


The Role of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants

Both Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants perform a multitude of functions in collaboration and consultation with Physicians.  Their practice includes wellness exams and Pap smears as well as evaluating and treating vaginal infections, menstrual problems, ovarian cysts, fibroids, pelvic pain, STD testing, contraception, menopause, breast conditions, infertility and lifestyle counseling.
